Kristina Vugdelija graduated in 2013 with a degree in Ethnology and Cultural Anthropology and Croatian Language and Literature from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Zagreb, Croatia. In 2023, she obtained her PhD in Ethnology and Cultural Anthropology from the same faculty with the thesis entitled “The Making of National Heroes in Contemporary Cultures of Memory in Croatia”. She also completed the three-year international doctoral programme “Transformations in European Societies” at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich.

She works as a senior assistant at the Department of Ethnology and Cultural Anthropology, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Zagreb, where she teaches undergraduate and graduate courses on topics of academic literacy, anthropology of social memory, and the cultural and social dynamics of Southeast Europe. Her research interests are related to political anthropology, social memory, postsocialist transformation, and heroism studies. She is a member of the editorial boards of hed-biblioteka, the publishing series of the Croatian Ethnological Society, and in the Etnološka tribina scientific journal.
