Danijela Lugarić Vukas is an associate professor at the Department of East Slavic Languages and Literatures at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Zagreb, where she teaches courses on Soviet and post-Soviet Russian and Russophone literature and culture of the second half of the twentieth century, Russian women’s prose, Russian critical theory, and memory studies. Additionally, she serves as the director of the Institute of Literary Studies, where she edits the Biblioteka L series in literary scholarship. She has published numerous articles and edited volumes with Palgrave Macmillan, SUNY Press, Praesens Verlag, and Böhlau Verlag. Her recent publications include a monograph on the politics of memory in the Russian and Russophone novel of the 2010s (2023, in Croatian) and a translation of Oksana Vasyakina’s novel Rana (Wound). She currently serves as the principal investigator of the project “The Documentary Turn in Post-1989 European Literature,” funded by the Croatian Science Foundation (2025–2028). She has undertaken professional training at Saint Petersburg State University (2006), the University of California, Berkeley (2011), and the Leibniz-Zentrum für Literatur- und Kulturforschung, Berlin (2023).
