Patricia Počanić obtained a master’s degree in Art History and Comparative Literature from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Zagreb in 2016, and in 2025 she earned her PhD degree at the same faculty with a dissertation entitled State as Patron – Commissions and Acquisitions of Artwork for Interiors of Public Institutions in Croatia from the Early 1950s to the End of the 1960s.

She has been employed as a senior research and teaching assistant at the Chair of Modern Art and Visual Communication at the Art History Department, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Zagreb, where she teaches classes on modern and contemporary art. Her research interests focus on the art of the second half of the twentieth century in Southeast Europe, state-sponsored purchases and commissions of artworks, the history of design, and artistic interventions in public space. She is the author of several scientific papers addressing the aforementioned topics: “Luxury in the Yugoslav way – Hotel Ambasador in Opatija,” Radovi Instituta za povijest umjetnosti, 46 (2023), 207–226, “Statecraft: the artworks of Villa Zagorje in Zagreb,” in: Art and the State in Modern Central Europe (18th – 21st Century), eds. J. Alviž, D. Damjanović, J. Nestić, J. F. Walton (Zagreb, FF Press, 2024). She is a collaborator in several Croatian Science Foundation and Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences projects, including project IP-2022-10-9843 “Representation, Development, Education, Participation – Art in Society in 19th – 21st centuries” (principal investigator: Dragan Damjanović, PhD, full professor). She is a member of the Croatian Section of AICA (HS AICA), Croatian Association of Fine Artists of Applied Arts (ULUPUH), Croatian Society of Art Historians (DPUH), as well as a member of the Editorial Board of the Croatian Architects’ Association (UHA).
