Senada Šelo Šabić earned her BA in English at the University of Zagreb, Croatia. She completed a Master’s degree in International Peace Studies at the University of Notre Dame (USA, 1995) and a Master’s in International Relations at the University of Zagreb (1999). In 2003, she earned her PhD in Political and Social Sciences from the European University Institute in Florence, Italy, with a dissertation on state-building, democracy, and external intervention in the Balkans.

She works as a Scientific Advisor at the Institute for Development and International Relations (IRMO) in Zagreb, where she leads research on European integration, foreign policy, migration, and democratic development in Southeast Europe. Her academic and policy work focuses on the Western Balkans and the European Union, with particular expertise in EU enlargement, post-conflict reconciliation, governance, and regional cooperation. She has worked extensively with national governments, the European Parliament, and international organizations, providing strategic evaluations and policy advice.

Her recent work includes contributions to high-level evaluations of regional programs on gender equality, transitional justice, and normalization processes in the Western Balkans.

She is the author of numerous policy papers and academic publications on foreign influence in Southeast Europe, civic engagement, corruption, and institutional reform.
