Petar Popović is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Political Science, University of Zagreb. He teaches Introduction to the Study of International Politics, Theories of International Relations, and World Diplomatic Relations in the First Half of the Twentieth Century. He earned his BA (2004) and MA (2006) in International Relations from Webster University in Vienna, and completed his PhD at the University of Ljubljana in 2011. He is the author of numerous scholarly and professional articles published in both domestic and international journals, as well as three monographs. His primary research interests lie in theories of International Relations, with particular emphasis on classical Realism and the English School of International Relations. Among his notable recent publications are “Redefining the Status Quo State: Collective Support, Order-Maintenance, and Self-Restraint” (International Politics, 2024) and “Hans Morgenthau and the Lasting Implications of World War I” (Journal of Military Ethics, 19, 2020). He serves as Editor-in-Chief of the Political Thought (Politička misao) book series published by the Faculty of Political Science, University of Zagreb. He is currently involved in the ValEUs project within the Jean Monnet Project Network, an international consortium funded by the European Commission. He previously served as President of the Croatian United Nations Association from 2016 to 2020.
