Borjana Prošev-Oliver graduated in general and comparative literature, at the Faculty of Philology, University of Skopje, Macedonia, and received her doctorate at the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Zagreb on the topic “Exile in Macedonian Literature”. After graduating, she worked as a part-time associate on the Third Program of the Macedonian Radio and in the Editorial Office for Culture and Arts of the Macedonian Radio and Television. Since 1986 she has been working as a senior lecturer at the Department of Macedonian Language and Literature at the of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Zagreb. Her main fields of interest are literary-theoretical and linguistic Croatian-Macedonian comparative topics. Together with Dijana Vlatković, she is the author of the first large bilingual Croatian-Macedonian explanatory dictionary. She deals with literary and scientific translation from Croatian and Macedonian as a starting and target language.

She is a member of the Croatian Literary Translators’ Association, the Croatian Association of University Language Lecturers, the Croatian-Macedonian Society, and the Macedonian Community in the Republic of Croatia. Since 1995, she has been administering Macedonian language examinations for court interpreters at the Centre for Foreign Languages in Zagreb.

She is the recipient of the “Honorary Racin Award” of the Republic of North Macedonia for the promotion of the Macedonian language and culture in Croatia for the year 2018.

She translated her own short story collection Have I Told You from Croatian into Macedonian. The collection, published on her eponymous art blog, was released in 2023 by publisher „Perun Artis“ (Bitola, Republic of North Macedonia).
