Simona Gotal graduated in Slovene Language and Literature from the Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana, and with a degree in Political Science from the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Ljubljana. In the 2006/2007 academic year, she participated in a study exchange programme at Sapienza University of Rome. From 2009 to 2012, she was employed at the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport of the Republic of Slovenia and was involved in teaching Slovene as a second and foreign language at educational institutions in Switzerland, Liechtenstein, and the Austrian federal state of Vorarlberg. She subsequently joined the Centre for Slovene as a Second and Foreign Language at the University of Ljubljana, and worked as a seconded lecturer of Slovene for six years at the National Institute for Oriental Languages and Civilisations (INALCO) in Paris. Since March 2018, she has been employed as a lecturer of Slovene at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Zagreb.
